I am planning to use specify to create a tissue database for our very small collection (only hundreds) of cetacean tissue samples.

When we collect a sample, we then sub-sample it and preserve sub-samples in different ways, and deposited in different locations. I am not still sure about how we can address subsamples. Should each sub-sample be treated as a different specimen, or can we create a unique specimen ID and then attribute that to different sub-samples?

Any help would be very welcomed.

Answering myself just to close this topic. Sub-samples can be dealt with the Preparations Table. Individual or multiple subsamples can be entered as different preparations and can be related to a single specimen (sample).
